Hold yer horses Facebook! Really, do these people even take a break? Facebook has constantly been introducing new functions and features to the point where the ordinary user may not even stop to appreciate them. The roll-out is sometimes life-changing and other times subtle and you may very well have missed them. That’s why we made a list of our 4 favourite Facebook features in 2016.
- FACEBOOK LIVE VIDEO
You’re going live in 3, 2, 1. Photos and pre-recorded videos are so yesterday, now you can live-stream yourself and interact with people in real-time! All videos broadcasted will show the number of live viewers and real-time stream of comments.
Celebrities and personalities are broadcasting themselves to provide a more intimate fan engaging experience. Brands and companies can take it a step further by doing live videos on their events and product launches to generate hype. Instead of thinking of these as supplementary content, why not make your content revolve around the live video event of the year?
- FACEBOOK 360 Photo/Video Function
If a picture is worth a thousand words, how much is a 360 photo worth – not to mention a 360 video? This function allows viewers to see a full spectrum of space from the comforts of one’s room. Now, anyone can experience the majesty of the canyons or the breathtaking view of the sea (travel brands take note!). The possibilities are literally endless!
Creating 360 photos on Facebook requires panorama photos which can be taken from your phone. However, in order to snap a 360 video or even take 360 photography to a professional level, special cameras are needed. Here is an example of a 360 photo: 300,000 brick Lego replica of Durham Cathedral 🙂
- FACEBOOK REACTIONS
Long gone are the days when you struggle with the dilemma of liking a post which is unpleasant or offensive. Probably one of the most life-changing features, Facebook’s Reactions now allows us to better express ourselves. Users can now choose from 6 emojis from “Haha” to “Angry”. While it may not have the most variety of options, a recent stunt shows us that the idea of having more Reactions may not be too far behind.
What this means for brands and organizations is that they can get a better idea of how the content is received, allowing them to leverage on certain emotions when it comes to designing their future campaigns.
- FACEBOOK PROFILE VIDEO
Yes, you saw right! Now users can post a 7-second video to replace their static profile photo. This is a huge leap for expression. I mean what’s next? A video cover photo? One thing to note though, currently the profile video is only available to user profiles and not Pages. But that’s something we predict will change very soon. Until it happens, why not start brainstorming on ideas? 😉
